If you create an account: your email address, optional display name, and (with Google sign-in) your Google profile name and picture. As you practise: your takes and scores - notes played, timing and grading results - so the app can show your progress.
The acoustic-piano input processes sound on your device. It converts piano audio to note events in real time and immediately discards the audio. That piano audio is not recorded, stored or sent anywhere.
If you choose Say the note in note flash cards, your browser's speech-recognition service may process that short recording online. For example, Chrome may send it to a Google speech service. Piano Coach receives only the transcript used to mark the card and does not store the recording or transcript. You can always answer by playing or tapping instead.
Practice data is stored on your device (browser storage). If you sign in, it also syncs to our database (MongoDB Atlas) so your progress follows you between devices. We don't run ads, don't use analytics trackers, and never sell your data. Data only ever reaches the third-party processors named on this page (Google sign-in, Resend email, optional AI feedback, and your browser's speech provider when you choose a spoken flash-card answer). Google sign-in is provided by Google under Google's privacy policy.
Piano Coach is free while in beta and does not currently take payments, so no payment processor receives your data today. If paid plans launch later, payment would be handled by Stripe: card details would go directly to Stripe and are never seen or stored by us, and we would keep only your plan status and a Stripe customer reference so we know what you have access to. See Stripe's privacy policy for how they handle payment data. We will update this page before that happens.
Account emails (verifying your address, password resets, security notices, and replies to feedback you send us) are delivered by Resend. Only your email address and the message itself pass through Resend so it can deliver the mail - never your practice data. See Resend's privacy policy.
The app is used by piano students, including children. We collect only what's listed above, show no ads, use no trackers, have no social features, and do no profiling. Accounts for students under 16 must be created and managed by a parent or guardian, who accepts the terms on the student's behalf. Parents and guardians can review or delete a student's data at any time from Settings → Data, or by emailing support@pianocoach.pro.
In the app: Settings → Data → Delete my data permanently removes your saved practice data from your device and our database.
To delete your whole account: sign in (in the app, or on the web at pianocoach.pro) and use Settings → Data → Delete my account. This permanently deletes your profile and all synced practice data. It cannot be undone. If you can't sign in, email support@pianocoach.pro and we'll remove the account for you.
If how we handle data changes, this page will be updated before the change takes effect.
