Every take graded like the real exam

Play a scale on your piano. Seconds after you stop, Piano Coach grades the take the way an examiner would: pitch, timing and evenness, note by note, with the next thing to fix.

Why Piano Coach

Practice that tells you where you stand

Between lessons, most students practise blind: play it again and hope it's getting better. Piano Coach tells you, every single take.

Feedback you can act on

Not stars and streaks: a grade with note-by-note verdicts. Which note was wrong, which beat rushed, which hand dragged - and "what to work on" next, so the next run-through fixes the right thing.

Practise anywhere, one account

Sign in and your takes, settings and progress follow you: practise on the laptop at the piano, check how the week is going on your phone.

Built for exam day

Organised around AMEB requirements: every scale your grade demands, a readiness score for each, and a mock exam mode - all of them back to back, one take each, no retries.

The verdict

Graded like an exam, explained like a teacher

Each take gets a grade, a plain-English headline and a full breakdown: which notes sat in the scale, which rushed or dragged - note by note, on a piano roll.

The mark can always justify itself. Credibility of the grade is the whole product, so you can check exactly where every point went.

Why not a piano game?

Feedback and autonomy, not stars and streaks

Most piano apps are games that happen to involve a keyboard. Piano Coach is built for students with a syllabus and a date.

Piano Coach

A practice examiner

  • Note-by-note verdicts. Which note, which beat, which hand - and the next fix, every take.
  • Your instrument, your practice. Your own MIDI keyboard, your own piano - no app-shaped compromise, and nothing to buy.
  • A real syllabus. AMEB requirements grade by grade, readiness scores and mock exams pointed at an actual exam.

Typical learn-piano apps

A game with a keyboard

  • A star rating and a streak - little on why marks were lost or what to fix next.
  • A locked catalogue, played at the app's pace, in the app's order.
  • Generic song ladders - no exam board's requirements in sight.

A note from the workbench

Now in beta - free while it stays there

Piano Coach is in open beta, and everything is free while it is: every AMEB grade's scale requirements, mock exams and progress tracking. Takes you record now keep their history as the app improves.

What we're refining right now: the scales trainer itself - how a take is graded, how readiness is reported, and how little you have to touch the screen while you are sitting at the piano.

What's next: practising whole pieces against a benchmark, Hanon exercises, and the Android and iOS store apps - the full list is on the roadmap below.

If a take grades oddly, or there's something you wish it did - email support@pianocoach.pro. Beta feedback directly shapes what gets built next.
